HOI AN 2ND-6TH APRIL

HOI AN 2ND APRIL
We said our goodbyes to Lyly this morning and travelled to the airport for our next stop in Vietnam  Hoi An, we had intended and had actually booked the train which takes 15 hours but when I told Jim about the report on Trip Advisor which mentioned cockroaches in the beds we decided to fly instead !!
Arrived at hoiansilkhotel.com and we were greeted by Susan on reception another lovely girl who looks about 16 but is 27 she is so tiny and keeps calling us Mum and Dad well at least it's not Papa.
Our room is really lovely with a huge bed and beautiful white fluffy towels it's perfect.  We have a walk in  the rain !! and look at a few taylors  but have  changed my mind about getting something made so we head back to hotel.
Go to the old town in the evening it is so beautiful with coloured lanterns everywhere and lots of shops and restaurants, we eat at a tiny restaurant and have water spinach for the first time cooked with garlic it's delicious.

Go for an early morning walk and discover the market selling everything from fruit and veg to live chickens what an experience. Mmm mm breakfasts are so good at this hotel I love my fruit and yoghurt, tomatoes on toast with Greek salad followed by the best ever coconut tart which is a delicious crispy pastry with a macaroon kind of filling. Plans for beach today but as it is raining we catch up with a few bits and pieces then go downstairs for drinks before eating in the old town which I am embarrassed to say was pizza!!
