LAST FULL DAY AT THE REUNKANOK HUA HIN

LAST FULL DAY AT THE REUNKANOK HOTEL HUA HIN
After our walk and another wonderful breakfast of eggs Benedict cooked perfectly we head off to do some last minute shopping and I manage to catch the bus back on my own-this is trickier than it sounds as there are no stops,  so first you have to get the  bus (a metal kid of truck where you stand on the back if it is full up) to stop old school by putting your hand out and then you have to ring the bell when you want to get off.  As I had relied on Jim to do this and he loved ringing the bell I was quite chuffed when I managed to get off at our hotel and did not end up whizzing past. This journey costs about 30p and you can go miles just paying the driver when you get off.
Make the most of the pool in the afternoon and then eat at our hotel. After a roti wrap starter and green currys we have just enough space left to visit the wonderful ice cream shop opposite our hotel.  For some reason although I have had ice cream from here on 3 of the 4 nights I have forgotten to mention this cute little shop. It is called Pengu Ice and is owned by a French couple who make the ice cream and it is delicious, we met the owners and enjoyed chatting to them about their fairly new venture.
Do most of our packing as we leave in the morning cannot believe we have been away for 4 months.

26TH APRIL,LAST FOUR DAYS IN HUA HI. THAILAND

26TH APRIL OUR LAST 4 DAYS IN THAILAND
We arrived at our last hotel today the Reunkanok Thai House Resort and it is absolutely beautiful, the staff are really friendly, room is huge and is a separate bungalow and it is really quiet and peaceful it is definitely the right choice for the last four days of our amazing adventure.
Nothing is forgotten at this beautiful resort, we are given a lovely frozen mint drink on arrival, we have a basket with our beach towels in and lots of beautiful accessories in the room making in very special.
Wow wow breakfast here is so good, lovely fruit, salad, home made cakes, deleicious jam including coconut jam and then we select chicken wrapped in Pandan leaves with chips!!!  it is wonderful. The staff are so helpful they really look after you what a lovely place.

28th April - instead of lounging around the pool we decided to take advantage of the shuttle bus to another beach, it is really lovely but it is so hot even under 2 umbrellas the heat is oppressive and we only last a couple of hours before heading back and jumping in the pool. I spend the next 2 hours sitting on a step in the pool reading as it is so hot. There are 4 monkeys who come into the grounds of the hotel one of the girls referred to them as the gangsters and they made an appearance this afternoon grabbing the fruit on display only to throw it away when they realised it was plastic - nothing here is left outside not even cans of drink as they can open them.
Our last meal in the night market the our favourite fish restaurant Lung Ja shopping then back to hotel at 11 a late night for us.

LAST COUPLE OF DAYS AT SAILOM HOTEL HUA HIN

LAST COUPLE OF DAYS AT SAILOM HOTEL
We discover today that we can ask to have sunbeds and an umbrella on the beach which is a lovely way to while away the afternoon.  There is a wonderful breeze and lots going on including banana boat rides, horse riding and kite surfing, Jim is tempted to try the kite surfing but changes his mind after he watches people struggling and I am tempted (goodness knows why) by the horse riding which I get a chance to do when Emily a lovely girl we have met who is on holiday with her Mum offers me a quick pose and walk on the horse she has been riding. Before I change my mind I am on the back of the beautiful horse Chocolate-thank goodness I didn't go for the whole half hour as I was very nervous.

On Saturday we visit Cicada market in the evening which is held in a park, food is lovely and shopping is perfect lots of handmade things rather than fake goods makes a change.
Met Nick who used to look after us at the Dusit thani when we came on holiday a couple years ago so good to see him again.

24th April was not a good night, we were woken up for the second night running by screaming babies or maybe toddlers?? This started at about 12 and was still going on at 3am  but now it sounded like the adults were trying to make the baby laugh!! with frayed nerves we walked to reception and were immediately offered another room to sleep in for the night, I don't think we were the first to complain as the man said immediately they check out tomorrow.
25th April - oh dear woke up at 10.15 no early walk and no breakfast never mind had toasty is local cafe.
Absolutely wonderful meal at Lung Ja restaurant in the night market, nothing posh but food is so good we had vegetable tempura, rock lobster, papaya salad, steamed sea bass and pineapple and prawn rice delicious.
A very early walk on the beach at 6am back by 8 for breakfast which is now enhanced with our yoghurt,
cheese and salad dressing, sorry don't ever do this but food was just a bit sad.

HUA HIN 19TH-22ND APRIL

HUA HIN 19TH-22ND APRIL
Finally arrived at our hotel   sailomhotelhuahin.com Hua Hin at about 4.30 and it is pouring with rain some of the streets are flooded but after about an hour the sun comes out and we have a walk on the beautiful beach and all is good.
As there is the potential for more rain we decide to cross the road to the brand new mall Blue Port which is a weird combination of 2 Uk shopping destinations Blue Water and Freeport so easy to remember the name when we have to get tuk tuks. Mall is actually quite impressive with some beautiful restaurants and a kind of fake beach theme downstairs with people cooking.  We have a meal and it is good but sadly lacks the atmosphere of an actual market. On the way out we discover a restaurant which serves imported cheeses and wine and as I have been dreaming about cheese for a couple  of weeks now I decide to come here for my birthday.
After all the amazing breakfasts this morning was a huge disappointment, a platter of pineapple and some melon, plain old square bread and little packets of jam and marmalade although I don't think either of these had come anywhere near a piece of fruit, one solitany sad fried egg and some other bits and pieces that don't even deserve a mention, oh and a very little salad bar with a mayonnaise that had split, oh well you can't win them all and we do have chocolate in the fridge!!
We spend the day by the pool which we have completely to ourselves and in the evening go to the night market where we have delicious Tom Yung soup scallops with pepper and garlic, deep fried red snapper and rice mm mm.
21st April - It's my birthday today so after spending the morning by the pool we catch a bus to look at a hotel for our last 4 days called Reunkanok Thai house, it is really beautiful and we book it there and then for 26th-30th April.
We then catch the bus back to Blue Port which is where we make an exciting discovery in the food hall.... they have cheese, not just any cheese Cathedral City mature cheddar, Stilton, garlic and herb oh my the choice is amazing. Jim enquires whether we  should get some cheese to have before we go out I decide there and then that we don't need to go to posh restaurant where we will have is a  miniscule piece of cheese with a slice of French bread when we can have a selection of cheese a whole French stick and a bottle of red in our room - birthday meal sorted!!
3 hours later after some retail therapy we are both in cheese heaven and after 2 glasses of wine I can barely keep awake as it's the most I have had to drink in a long time.

Breakfast today was definitely improved by the garlic cheese on my toast.
