MOUNT COOK AND GERALDINE 30TH JANUARY

Mount cook and Geraldine 30th January

The journey to Mount Cook is much longer than we thought and when it is in sight we stop off for a tea break and take a couple of photographs but Jim wants to see it up closer.  We start driving but the closer we get the more it is disappearing behind other mountains until finally we cannot see it!! Jim says you are  not impressed are you? unfortunately he is right and this  has to do with the fact that he had mentioned he had tried to get a hotel on Mount Cook.  I own up I am absolutely rubbish at Geography full stop and have large gaps in my knowledge which make me feel really stupid .....this was one of them.  I actually thought we were going up Mount Cook go on have a good belly laugh I don't mind.
Anyway got some good photos on the way back but preferred Lake Wanaka.
We arrived at our Airbnb in Geraldine at about 6 - oh my it is stunning like a luxury hotel.  We have a beautiful large ensuite room with the most wonderful bedding. Our host Annette is lovely and makes us tea with scrummy biscuits which look homemade and taste like dime bar.  We have a lovely meal at The Village Inn of slow cooked beef cheek with mash and vegetables - delicious.
A lovely breakfast awaits us in the morning and then we are on our way.
Next stop Hanmer Springs.

Janis and i were speaking about your travels yesterday as she said it is bringing many wonderful memories of the places she visited when she took her mum and brother travelling. Bizarrely I told her you were due to leave New Zealand on the 7th February and that was the exact date they arrived in New Zealand! Love catching up on your blog. Love you both. Liz x x x
