We visited a beautiful Gorge today called Karangahake only about 45 minutes from where we were staying but on the way to Rotoura and it was well worth the stop. 2 wobbly bridges and amazing views would definitely recommend a visit.
We arrive at Ruth's landing in Rotoura and we are blown away. The property is beautiful and then we are shown the back garden which backs onto a lake oh my it is stunning and so peaceful wish we were here for a week.
Unfortunately although we didn't really want to end up in this position but we have quite a lot we want to fit in and only have this afternoon and tomorrow.
We decide to go to the skyline first and take the gondola which is a cable car up to the top where there are amazing views. Jim also goes on the luge but I am a bit of a wimp with anything resembling go karts so I take photos.
Had dinner in the garden this evening finished off our wine watching the sunset.
Up early for 10.15 performance at Te Puia which is a Maori experience all set in a natural area of an erupted volcano. It was really good and I got up on stage "with others of course" to learn a traditional dance which also involved spinning a ball around on a piece of string all very tricky - they then asked for male volunteers for the Haka did Jim go up......of course not.
The geysers were up to 30ft high and were incredible to watch as well as the hot mud pools it was really worth the money $59.
The garden calls this afternoon so instead of trundling off for another trip we read and soak up the calm atmosphere of Ruth's landing.
And a map!! Sounds magical. x Andrew
