BEAUTIFUL BALI 1ST - 2ND MARCH

BEAUTIFUL BALI  1ST - 2ND MARCH
We arrived in Bali today and our son Joe was waiting at the airport with our driver Putu, what luxury no more  driving for Jim and good job as you need the patience of a Saint and nerves of steel on these roads.
We arrive at our villa and it is beautiful,  huge rooms all ensuite, a pool and wonderful outside area and in the kitchen there is somebody preparing a meal. It's so good to see Joe after 2 months of travelling we are so lucky to have these 3 days together.

All up for an early breakfast prepared by our lovely housekeeper Ivory and then off the day with Putu. First stop is another challenge for me - they just don't stop coming. We are going to go 8 metres under water with helmets on that provide oxygen whilst you walk around and look at the fish.. As we descend the ladder and the very heavy helmet is put on my head I have a moment of panic but manage to keep moving with the help of the diver who I can tell is on a mission to get me to the bottom.  Actually in the end it's not me who has the problem as Jim and Joe both have problems with pressure on their ears and Jim especially takes quite a while to get to the bottom. It is a great experience and we even see Nemo so glad I did it.

Next stop Putu is taking us to a beach which he says is very beautiful and not to busy.  Well it is very beautiful but I can see immediately why it isn't busy as the walk down is over rubble is quite steep and goes on forever!! We finally arrive the surf is great but very strong I only wanted a paddle and end up getting knocked over and grazing my knee.  We stay about an hour and then we have the dreaded walk back up it is excruciating the sun is pounding down on us, it is really steep and goes on forever.  On more than one occasion I just want to give up but we finally get to the top.  I think Joe said to Putu "not your best idea" and Putu said he was thinking of taking his family there but not any more.
We also visit a beautiful temple near the sea and then go back to the Villa for a rest and then eat out at a local restaurant Milk and Honey and end up having pizza as we had not realised they didn't do Balinese food.
