A WEEK IN CORFU

FRIDAY 15Th SEPTEMBER

Up at 4am for an early flight to Greece with Friends Pat, Colin, Budgie and Carole and we reap the benefits of the early start as even with the  couple of hours time difference we have checked in and even manage a dip in the pool by 5pm. Hotel 1ti Louis Grand in Glyfada Corfu is lovely - right on the beach a room overlooking the sea - sunshine and a weeks all inclusive - life is good.
Meet up with Pat and Colin for an early morning walk at 7am and its so peaceful apart from the odd person sneaking their towel on a sunbed grrrrr why do people have to do this there again may be joining them if  securing 6 together is going to prove problematic!!!
Secure 6 sunbeds and relax after breakfast before all three ladies take part in the Aqua aerobics - big mistake as this actually entails getting out of the pool and doing exercises on the side - have to spend the rest of the day recovering.
Mid afternoon when I am drifting off to sleep Jim announces the first competition we have to complete a drawing in 10 minutes and he then chooses somebody on the beach to judge them. Pictures to be posted on Facebook later for a public vote if I can retrieve them.

Have to retreat to the bar after dinner as Il Divo South Africa are just a little bit loud!!!

GOODBYE THAILAND HELLO BRIGHTON

GOODBYE THAILAND HELLO BRIGHTON
Ok I admit it I miss writing the blog -  we have been home just over three weeks and I still have my walk albeit along westcliff beach and the weather has been ok but it has seemed weird just coming back and returning to everyday life.  Four months is a long time but we loved every minute and feel blessed that we had such an amazing trip.  However as I mentioned earlier I miss the blog so every now and then I shall bore you with my life and travels in Monte our camper van - named today as it is written on his side, well it actually says Monte Carlo but that seemed a bit over the top. Obviously I would rather have had a Lola like our friends but I know in my heart that Monte is a boy - I could cover him in flower decals if Jim would allow it but he would still look like a male and he does a good job, he is comfy he drives like a top car and he rarely causes trouble.
Today is Montes first day out after the winter and all has gone very welll, we had a good journey to Brighton and the weather has been beautiful, a lazy afternoon in the sunshine pre dinner G&T's and a delicious bar-b-que.

Slept for a wonderful 10 hours and woke up to glorious sunshine, breakfast outside and then caught the bus into Brighton and spent the afternoon on the beach. Jim had a swim but somebody has to look after the bags so of course I volunteered - it actually wasn't as cold as he thought it would be, but nether the less I gave it a miss.

It's 6o'clock and the sun is still shining looking forward to spaghetti bologneise and a bottle of red.

GOODBYE THAILAND

GOODBYE THAILAND
Up at 6am for our last walk along our beautiful beach-because of the heat later in the day there are already lots of adults and children in the water and building sand castles I have never seen this many  people so early. We have a dip in the sea and a leisurely breakfast - Jim chooses the Croque Monsieur and I have the chicken curry roti both of which are delicious, I have serious concerns about my ability to start cooking regularly again soon,  after being spoilt for the last 4 months.
I am sad to leave this beautiful place and wonderful staff and we promise to come back soon. We travel again by VIP bus to Bangkok Airport and then travel,to Hong Kong on the first leg of our journey and by midnight we are on our way to Heathrow.
After some sleeps and a couple of films we are touching down at Heathrow and in no time at all we are heading home with Ben who picked us up.
As Jim put his key in the door we had a huge surprise from our family all waiting to see us and in no time at all I feel like we haven't been away,

AS BUG'S BUNNY WOULD SAY "THAT'S ALL FOLKS"

LAST FULL DAY AT THE REUNKANOK HUA HIN

LAST FULL DAY AT THE REUNKANOK HOTEL HUA HIN
After our walk and another wonderful breakfast of eggs Benedict cooked perfectly we head off to do some last minute shopping and I manage to catch the bus back on my own-this is trickier than it sounds as there are no stops,  so first you have to get the  bus (a metal kid of truck where you stand on the back if it is full up) to stop old school by putting your hand out and then you have to ring the bell when you want to get off.  As I had relied on Jim to do this and he loved ringing the bell I was quite chuffed when I managed to get off at our hotel and did not end up whizzing past. This journey costs about 30p and you can go miles just paying the driver when you get off.
Make the most of the pool in the afternoon and then eat at our hotel. After a roti wrap starter and green currys we have just enough space left to visit the wonderful ice cream shop opposite our hotel.  For some reason although I have had ice cream from here on 3 of the 4 nights I have forgotten to mention this cute little shop. It is called Pengu Ice and is owned by a French couple who make the ice cream and it is delicious, we met the owners and enjoyed chatting to them about their fairly new venture.
Do most of our packing as we leave in the morning cannot believe we have been away for 4 months.

26TH APRIL,LAST FOUR DAYS IN HUA HI. THAILAND

26TH APRIL OUR LAST 4 DAYS IN THAILAND
We arrived at our last hotel today the Reunkanok Thai House Resort and it is absolutely beautiful, the staff are really friendly, room is huge and is a separate bungalow and it is really quiet and peaceful it is definitely the right choice for the last four days of our amazing adventure.
Nothing is forgotten at this beautiful resort, we are given a lovely frozen mint drink on arrival, we have a basket with our beach towels in and lots of beautiful accessories in the room making in very special.
Wow wow breakfast here is so good, lovely fruit, salad, home made cakes, deleicious jam including coconut jam and then we select chicken wrapped in Pandan leaves with chips!!!  it is wonderful. The staff are so helpful they really look after you what a lovely place.

28th April - instead of lounging around the pool we decided to take advantage of the shuttle bus to another beach, it is really lovely but it is so hot even under 2 umbrellas the heat is oppressive and we only last a couple of hours before heading back and jumping in the pool. I spend the next 2 hours sitting on a step in the pool reading as it is so hot. There are 4 monkeys who come into the grounds of the hotel one of the girls referred to them as the gangsters and they made an appearance this afternoon grabbing the fruit on display only to throw it away when they realised it was plastic - nothing here is left outside not even cans of drink as they can open them.
Our last meal in the night market the our favourite fish restaurant Lung Ja shopping then back to hotel at 11 a late night for us.
