It's the most magical time of the year

Christmas is always a lovely time of the year but especially when spent with the little people in your family who bring excitement to the whole occasion.
Our day started very calmly the turkey went into the oven the vegetables had been prepared the night before and Santa had remembered that our 32 year old son was staying with us so no mistakes as to where his Christmas stocking should be delivered.
At 10.30 I find myself relaxing on the sofa thinking there must be something to do but apparently not .... that is until the final hour when it's all systems go with food being jiggled around in the ovens for the best space and gravy on to simmer.  Incredibly it all comes together by about 1.30 with various helping hands and we all raise a glass to our loved ones who are no longer with us and enjoy a very festive meal.
Now the fun and games are over we are thinking when is it a reasonable time to take down the tree as the 5th will not be possible as we will be flying out to Hong Kong to start our big adventure. Tomorrow I must practise packing a relatively small suitcase which should be fun.

19 sleeps

It may only be 8 sleeps until Christmas but for us the number 19 is much more relevant as this is when we will start our big adventure.  All those months ago when we decided to take early retirement  and go travelling in January 2017 I thought ok I will retire in November no maybe October that will give me loads of time.  Well the old cliche of how did I find time to work comes to mind most days and we are frantically rushing around sorting out accomodation visas car hire etc as well as for me learning how to start a blog.
Well I hope it works and you can follow us as we visit some amazing countries.
